Conductors will carry the electricity to light up the shoes, while a good switch is needed to turn the lights on and off safely.
You're cycling at night and your bike has battery-powered lights front and rear. Both lights are wired from the same battery in parallel. How does the voltage compare across each light?
In a parallel circuit, all components receive the same voltage from the battery. So both the front and rear lights receive the full battery voltage, allowing them both to shine at full brightness.
What happens when you add a resistor (like a piece of carbon) to a circuit? The brightness of the bulb will decrease.
A resistor reduces the flow of electricity through a circuit by blocking some of it. With less electricity flowing, the bulb receives less power and shines dimmer.
