What’s your snack preference based on these health facts? Match the snack to its benefit!
Nuts are great for your brain, carrots help your eyesight, yogurt is good for digestion, and dark chocolate boosts your mood!
A teenager skips breakfast and eats only a chocolate bar at break time, then feels tired and struggles to concentrate in lessons. Which part of the nutrition chain did they break?
Breakfast provides steady glucose and energy for the brain and body. A chocolate bar gives a quick sugar spike followed by a crash. Missing balanced meals means the brain lacks sustained fuel; it needs protein, fibre, and complex carbs alongside simple sugars.
Which of these is the best source of calcium for strong bones and teeth?
Milk and dairy products like yoghurt and cheese are excellent sources of calcium. While leafy greens contain some calcium, dairy is the richest and most easily absorbed source. Bread and orange juice contain much less calcium unless fortified.
Processed foods typically have a higher nutritional value than whole foods.
Processed foods often contain added sugars and unhealthy fats, whereas whole foods are more nutrient-dense and beneficial.
About Food and Nutrition at KS3
At KS3, children aged 11–13 are ready to tackle Food and Nutrition with confidence. Dailulu's daily tests use short, focused sessions — just a few minutes a day — to build fluency and retention over time.
