A persuasive argument should use logical reasons supported by evidence. 'Everyone else does it' (appeal to others) and emotional statements are weaker than demonstrating responsibility and showing specific benefits. The strongest argument addresses your parents' concerns (sleep, homework) directly.
When asking for support for a school project, you can be persuasive by showing how it benefits everyone involved.
